| Pelican dress diary - finished! Plus: My new website | Jul. 20th, 2005 @ 12:47 pm |

EDIT!
Due to current server problems my "usual" site is not available at the moment, and will probably not be for another week or so... *sigh*...
I'm currently uploading a mirror page, which will then be accessible at
http://www.naergilien.info.
As soon as the 'old' site works again, the pictures below will show again - but until then, feel free to browse through the aforementioned site, which is basically the same as the one mentioned below - just that it's at a different location.
If you want to browse through the links given below, this can easiest be done by replacing the http://www.yesterdaygowns.com part by http://www.naergilien.info - the folder and page names remain the same.
Thanks for reading, and sorry for the inconveniences!
Best wishes,
Naergi

( I am proud to announce that I have finally managed to... )
Best wishes, Naergi

| 'Pelican' gown reproduction: Partlet and sleeves | Jun. 28th, 2005 @ 11:44 am |

Come my lad. Come on and set my partlet on one side as I do on the other... (Miss Starkie, "possessed by a spirit" in 1597, calling out to the devil) |
( The partlet and sleeves )
Hope you liked it and forgive me :-)

| Pelican gown diary: The farthingale | Jun. 24th, 2005 @ 03:44 pm |

"My lad, I will have a French farthingale, and it shall be finer than thine; I will have it low before and high behind and broad on either side that I may laye mine arms upon it." (Miss. Starkie, "possessed by a spirit" in 1597, calling out to the devil - I know that the above written statement refers to a French, drum-shaped farthingale, but I like it so much that I thought I should just write it down here) |
I was so fascinated by this description in the wardrobe inventories of Elizabeth I.:
"(...) a verthingale of crimsen Satten striped with gold(...)"
...*SO* Pelican gown. *SO* mine.
Except, of course, that I could find no "crimsen Satten striped with gold"... ( The farthingale )
Best wishes, Naergilien

| Pelican gown diary: The smock | Jun. 24th, 2005 @ 03:37 pm |

Thus, my lad, I will have a fine Smocke of silke, it shall be finer than thine... (Miss. Starkie, "possessed by a spirit" in 1597, calling out to the devil) |
( The smock (or chemise) )
Best wishes,
Naergilien

| » How to make Quadruples |
This is my first entry for my dress diary on the "Pelican" gown. I thought that I'd better split it up - it is *really* long, and not completely finished yet - so until I have actually finished it, I will give out small portions of tutorials on how to make the single elements used for the decoration of the gown. Here's the first tutorial...: ( What are & how to make 'Quadruples' of pearls )

| » To distract me... |
...from the world, I'm currently working on something *really* exceptional.
Here's a first preview of the gown still being made (sorry, but that gown took my mind - it *must* have - as you probably know, or perhaps not - I *never* wanted to make any *red* gowns for myself...):
I think I will finish it within the next one or two weeks - anyone interested in a *very* detailled and lengthy step-by-step, pictured dress diary then...? Uhm - I could post it, but it's going to be *very* long....

(yes - that's a copy of the "Pelican" gown)...
Best wishes, Naergi

Note: I've had this entry in my journal before - in fact, it was posted two days ago. Due to the fact that I've completely messed up the posting so that it would not appear on my friend's friendslists, I'm reposting this one.
Long, long text behind the cuts.
Note: Each picture shown in this entry can be clicked upon, which will bring you to a different site - and if you click on the picture *there*, you will be taken to a bigger version.

( And finally... the conclusion - Maria Di Medici's blue and black portrait gown )
